In 2023, approximately 83% of Cyprus’s population engaged with social media platforms (such as Facebook, X, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok), as indicated by data released by Eurostat, the statistical service of the European Union. This figure surpassed the EU average of 59%!
Denmark reported the highest proportion of individuals creating user profiles and contributing content on social media platforms (91%), followed by Cyprus (83%) and Hungary (81%).
Conversely, France (44%), Germany (49%), and Italy (53%) reported the lowest percentages of social media participation.
Across 224 out of 273 EU regions, social media engagement exceeded 50%.
So why is Cyprus so reliant on Social Media?
